Mobility Screening

Mobility Screening comprises four items that assess gait, strength, and balance.

  1. Gait Speed
  2. Timed Up & Go
  3. Four Stage Balance Test
  4. 30-Second Chair Stand Test

Failing Mobility Screening:

Failing any of these four assessments is indicative of a gait, strength, or balance impairment, placing the patient at an Intermediate Risk for falling.

If the patient fails the Gait Speed or Timed Up & Go assessments (the two required items), it is not necessary to complete the Four Stage Balance Test or the 30-Second Chair Stand Test.

Passing Mobility Screening:

Passing all of these four items indicates the patient is not likely to have a gait, strength, or balance impairment, placing the patient at a Low Risk for falling.

Please read and review the Mobility Screening Guidelines for the specifics of each assessment item.
